Girls Club
Here’s an audio recording of the opening theme song for producer David E. Kelley’s (Ally McBeal, Boston Public) 2002 law drama, Girls Club, starring Gretchen Mol (The Notorious Bettie Page). It’s a punk-pop cover of the ‘60s classic, “San Francisco,” featuring producer Laura Dawn on vocals and Daron Murphy on guitar. Drums and second guitar are handled by the brothers Marco and Dino Meneghin, from Liz Phair’s band.
The second clip is a moody cover of the Beatles’ “Eleanor Rigby,” commissioned by David E. Kelly for a scene in the show. This track, produced by vocalist Laura Dawn, features our very own Lem Jay Ignacio on piano.
